In LA class we worked on a project called my ideal world we made our own books. First we used leafs with paint to make designs that we will cut out. Then we made a giant paper into a book format and worked on the hidden portal & in mine I made my version of a utopia. Then we worked on the covers personally I think mine is super good & It’s named Seach. After all of that we wrote a lot about what happens in our ideal world and then we were finished.

That’s my book and they were token by me.

This year we had a visiting author named Adam gidwitz. Adam wrote many books but his most popular was grimes fairytales. He came to my school and talked about his new book Max in the house of spies. He also talked about his passion for writing and how to get into writing. He was saying since he was a young kid he had a crazy imagination and when he got older he wrote about and now he is a successful author. Someone asked how to get into writing and he said just keep imagining and making stories in your head because we are so young and its good to keep your imagination growing.

I went to the National Indoor Festival from February 17-19. We had 5 games which all went super well. On Saturday my I had First game we won 4-0, Second game we tied 4-4. Next day on Sunday we had one game and we won 4-1. On our last day we hat our first game and won 15-0 the my last game which we won 3-0. I scored 7 goals and had a few assists. Throughout the whole weekend. After all of that we ended up winning our pool and got medals!

In my free time I was usually watching other teams games (from my club) or was with my team.

Recently Durham Academy’s sixth grade took a visit to the Morehead Planetarium and this is my experience .

In the morning we had our first two classes like normal and then at break we loaded the busses and went to the planetarium. First we took walks around the park with our advisory’s and the garden was beautiful there was so many flowers and trees and students working. After that we went to this area with a bunch of interactive activities about science. After that we ate some food and went to go see a show about newtons laws which was pretty cool. Then at the end of the day we say the planetarium show which was super cool nothing like I’ve ever seen. The field trip was super cool, I learned a lot and had a very good experience there.

A little while ago my class went for a field trip to go plant trees. We learned a lot about how good the trees are for the world and environment and how people have been cutting them down so we planted some more. It’s super hard to plant trees because you have to do a lot of work but in the end it was super fun. First you had measure how big your hole will be and dig it out which takes a while. After that you get the tree out of the pot and get a lot of the roots sticking out and then you put the tree in the hole you dug and bury it and then you’re done. I had so much fun at this field trip and learned a lot thank you for reading!

Recently I had a Field Hockey Tournament called the Disney Showcase in Florida. I had so much fun & Improved so much from this experience. On Friday we had our first game at 5. In our first game we played the team Lone star and we won 1-0. Our second game was at 9 pm against a team called powerhouse and we lost 0-6. Our third game was at 2 and we played new heights and lost 0-3.Our fourth game was a crossover against empower and we won 4-1 and I scored. Our fifth game was against lone star again and we went into shootouts and lost. Our last game was against Texas pride and we lost 1-0 but in the end we got fourth place. In this tournament I had so much fun hanging out with my team, eating a lot of açaí bowls, swimming, & having so much fun.

In Language Arts we learned a bunch of wisdom tales and got to choose one to do a comic on. I chose The Blue Jackal to make into a comic book. First I chose which scenes I would draw in Sketchbook first, but before that I drew all of the characters so I wouldn’t have to draw them over and over again. After I drew all the scenes and made sure they were perfect, there’s this app call Comic Life that we used to make the comics. I put all of the drawings into comic life and choose what color I wanted everything to be put all the word and thought bubbles in and then my comic was finished. This assignment was so fun to work on and I learned a lot of lessons and morals from all of the wisdom tales.

Chinese is a very hard language to learn. But with our teacher Guo Lao Shi, it is a very amazing learning experience. During all of the hard work we’ve done we have lots of fun. We are very proud of all the work we have done this year!

 

One big part about the Chinese language is the characters. When learning characters, you have to follow a very specific stroke order. Characters are very specific and very challenging to master, but when we work hard it all pays off.  When writing Chinese characters in a traditional form, we use brushes and ink to make calligraphy. When doing calligraphy you have to be super careful by holding the brush right and getting the perfect amount of ink and water. This skill is very challenging to do because when you mess up a little bit the whole character is ruined and have to do the steps all over again perfectly.

 

One of my favorite things about Chinese class is that we don’t just learn they characters, we learn culture too. Last year, we did a dragon dance and we got to perform it in front of the school. This year we are doing a super fun surprise this year but we will not give it away. During Chinese class we made many delicious foods like dumplings, ice cream, and spicy Ramen.

 

In our Chinese class we have tests and quizzes very frequently. At the beginning of this year we had a whole review lesion test with about 50-60 words. Then more in the middle of the year we started to have tests on characters and speaking. 我喜欢吃苹果。That means I like eating apples.

This year around Thanksgiving I had a field hockey tournament in Richmond, Virginia. This tournament was the biggest of the season at practice the coaches picked and choose people from practice for this tournament and I was chosen. After that we had multiple practices doing corners and drills and we even had a photo shoot with head shots and action shots. The first day of the tournament everyone on my team was scared because we were playing the best team in our pool and not surprising they beat us 10-0. Next game we played another team and we were winning then they scored in the last 10 seconds and we lost 1-0. After that we stayed at the hotel and went to the gym and went swimming. The next day was our best day for us the first game we won 2-0. Then we had our second game and beat them 3-0. In the middle of the second game this girl was screaming at me MOVE MOVE at me and being super aggressive at me because I kept dribbling around her and then she got carded. In the afternoon we went to the u16 game and there were 7 collage scouts watching our team play which was super good. Next day we had our last game and if we won this game we would be in third which is super good for us. In the beginning they scored two goals but then we bounced back and I scored on and then I had a stroke and I scored! They scored again and then my team scored and we tied. In the last quarter we knew we had to win and I scored in the first minute if the quarter which put us in the lead and we won the game!

After the whole tournament we ended up in 3rd and I played well and was very happy with tournament in all. Loved having this opportunity to play in this tournament.

Now that it’s November that means Thanksgiving is coming around. Some brief history about how Thanksgiving started is the pilgrims and the native Americans came to peace and had a feast. Before everyone came to each there was a lot of fighting between the Native American and the pilgrims. Nowadays we call it Thanksgiving.

Around Thanksgiving my whole moms side of the family comes together and its very big so we usually rent 2-3 houses and we celebrate which is super fun.

Here are some things I’m thankful for:

• My family

I am thankful for my family because they always support me.

• My dogs

I am thankful for my dogs because I love them so much.

• My friends

I am thankful for my friends because they are always there for me.

• The opportunity’s I have

I  am thankful for all of the opportunities I have because I have access to most things.

• Field Hockey

I am so thankful for field hockey because the sport gives me so much joy and I love playing field hockey.

• My ability to travel

I am thankful that I have the ability to travel to multiple places including out if the country.

• Meals

I am thankful that I have am able to have a meal anytime of the day.

• My Education

I am thankful for being able to go to one of the best school in North Carolina.

• Camp Seafair

I am so so thankful for having camp in my life i have made the bets memories there and have laughed the hardest with my friends at camp.

• Being alive

I am thankful for being alive and being able to enjoy everything that comes.
